Muscular Dystrophy Canada (MDC) is a national non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of those affected by neuromuscular disorders. Through research funding, advocacy, and essential community support, MDC works to empower individuals and families while advancing treatments and accelerating progress toward a cure.
Muscular Dystrophy Canada (MDC) required a full website redevelopment to modernize their digital presence and better serve their national audience. Their existing site lacked accessibility compliance, intuitive navigation, and bilingual content management – creating barriers for users and inefficiencies for internal teams.
Redevelop MDC’s website to deliver a modern, accessible, and mobile-responsive experience that reflects the organization’s national presence and mission.
Connect MDC’s key systems—including CrowdChange and SimplyCast—to unify donation processes, event management, and supporter communications.
Implement a flexible CMS with reusable templates and training resources so MDC staff can easily manage content, campaigns, and future site enhancements.
Build a fully bilingual site that meets WCAG 2.1 AA and AODA standards, ensuring usability and inclusivity across all audiences.
Fringe Media collaborated with Muscular Dystrophy Canada’s consulting and design teams to deliver a fully accessible, bilingual website built for long-term growth and flexibility. Acting as an extension of MDC’s team, we translated strategic goals and design assets into a user-friendly WordPress platform integrated with CrowdChange and SimplyCast. Through transparent collaboration, iterative development, and comprehensive testing, we ensured a seamless launch that empowers MDC to manage content independently and strengthen engagement across its community.
Collaborating with MDC’s communications team, we developed a new UX and content structure focused on clarity, accessibility, and inclusivity. All design and interface elements were tested to meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards, ensuring accessible navigation, keyboard functionality, alt text for images, and compliant colour contrast across all pages.
We implemented a robust WordPress CMS configured with Elementor Pro, enabling MDC staff to manage bilingual content and publish campaign pages efficiently. Reusable components and global templates were created to maintain brand consistency while supporting future scalability.
The new site was integrated with MDC’s third-party platforms – CrowdChange for peer-to-peer fundraising and SimplyCast for marketing automation – allowing for seamless donation tracking, supporter communication, and workflow automation. These integrations strengthened MDC’s ability to engage donors and streamline their digital fundraising ecosystem.
Fringe Media designed a clean, structured navigation system that highlights MDC’s research initiatives, community programs, and fundraising opportunities. The improved information architecture simplifies access for donors, families, and researchers, improving engagement and retention across user groups.
The new MDC website launched as a bilingual, fully accessible, and modern platform designed for longevity. It provides an improved donor and visitor experience, enhanced visibility for campaigns, and a flexible CMS that empowers the MDC team to manage and grow their digital presence independently.
